“Menopause is a part of a woman’s midlife, but midlife is about far more than menopause.”

Naomi Watts, Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known About Menopause

Perimenopause

Perimenopause is a term used to describe the hormonal changes that women experience as they get closer to the end of their reproductive years. This gradual hormonal shift typically starts when women are in their late 30’s and early 40’s and can last for several years.

Some common symptoms of perimenopause include:

  • Increase in mood fluctuations and irritability
  • Brain fog and memory changes
  • Sleep disruption and fatigue
  • Appetite and weight changes
  • Changes in sexual desire
  • Temperature regulation changes (sweating at night and/or hot flashes)

In addition to the physical and cognitive changes associated with perimenopause, many women find that they struggle with their emotional wellbeing, sometimes in new and profound ways. This period is one in which many women find themselves navigating a shift in identity, which can include changing roles within their family and/or career, grief over the end of their family building years, and an increased desire to focus on their own needs to find more joy and fulfillment.

We specialize in helping women to:

  • Make sense of the emotional and physiological changes related to perimenopause
  • Navigate identity shifts and relationship changes/challenges
  • Navigate emotions related to aging
  • Process feelings of loss or grief
  • Learn tools and techniques to help with anxiety and emotional regulation
  • Identify possibilities for increased fulfillment and connection
