Meet Andrea
The road to parenthood can be difficult and may leave us feeling lost, anxious, and unlike ourselves. Often the ideas and expectations we had for this time period are very different from the reality of our experience which may include unexpected feelings and physical changes, loss or infertility on the path to growing a family.
Raising a child or children, working (in or outside the home), maintaining relationships with a partner, family and friends and trying to find space for yourself is overwhelming. Finding time for yourself and figuring out how fill your cup in this stage of life can be a challenge. I can be with you along the way to support you in finding self-compassion, balance and hope. I especially like working with people during this time of life because of the great potential we have for growth as we birth both babies and new versions of ourselves as their parents!
Becoming a parent is a transition I felt unprepared for myself and since that experience I have become passionate about supporting other people during this pivotal time in life. I’ve focused my training on perinatal mental health over the past five years and work several days each week overseeing a perinatal mental health program at a federally qualified health center in Washington, DC. In addition to clinical care for clients there, I support advocacy, innovation, community building and training efforts related to perinatal mental health. I have advanced training in perinatal mental health, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy. I use a person-centered, solution-focused approach in my clinical work and look forward to speaking with you about how we can work together to support your goals.
